@vij@sfba.social Just ban the guns; and to the second amendment fools who inevitably pop out with the "tyrannical government" line, you've done nothing to stop Trump and his ICE goons, so get in the bin.

Carl Jung said "About a third of my cases are suffering from no clinically definable neurosis, but from the senselessness and emptiness of their lives. This can be defined as the general neurosis of our times." In previous ages is was the paranoia of the 50s, the schizophrenia of the 90s, and now we find ourselves clinically joyless.

A study of 24 people found that COVID discovered a new long-term consequence which is that the virus burns out dopamine receptors.

It affects the part of the brain responsible for motivation, happiness, and memory, and the sicker a person is, the worse the consequences.

@AlSweigart@mastodon.social "the street finds its own uses for things"

A split-panel meme contrasting two scenarios labeled for "Republicans:" Left side: Titled "Kids watching an execution on a live stream," featuring a photo of Dennis Reynolds (Glenn Howerton) from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia wearing a yellow striped shirt with a wide, manic, wide-eyed smile. Right side: Titled "Kids watching a drag queen story hour," featuring a photo of Dennis Reynolds in a plaid shirt, screaming intensely with a furious expression.

The public execution thing cruelty, but it's also a distraction, but I don't think it's big enough to distract people from the cost of living crisis. #uspol

@sisterratched@vivaldi.net @crk5@aus.social Not my cartoon, so no offense taken. 😉

@lauren@mastodon.laurenweinstein.org I think the left should be clear, public executions will end with Hegseth et al. publicly hanged.

@mhoye@cosocial.ca I agree, but the question is, why not?

Replying to @mhoye@cosocial.ca

@mhoye@cosocial.ca In fairness, the fact that one comic is so succinctly describes the problem, begs the question, why is the solution so elusive?

This is the famous xkcd comic titled "Dependency" (Comic #2347) by Randall Munroe.Visual BreakdownThe Structure: A massive, complex tower made of stacked blocks representing software components, architectures, and systems. The Top Bracket: Brackets span across the top of the tower, labeled "ALL MODERN DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE". The Foundation: Near the very bottom, supporting a huge portion of the entire superstructure, is a tiny, fragile-looking pillar. The Pointer: An arrow points directly to this tiny critical component with the caption: "A PROJECT SOME RANDOM PERSON IN NEBRASKA HAS BEEN THANKLESSLY MAINTAINING SINCE 2003".

Note especially how the goals of anarchism line up with the ruling class consolidating power. 🤮

Anarchists being anarchists. Ban free association before *checks notes* having an accountable non-privatised police force owned by the university.
